Sam grew up around her father’s companies that developed innovative, cleaner technologies for the scientific fields. One of those technologies is alkaline hydrolysis, an alternative to cremation and burial. It’s been embraced by the scientific community for over 30 years.

In 2007, Sam and her family-owned business brought alkaline hydrolysis to pet aftercare, believing that families might like another option. Within the year, she was working with small funeral homes and regulators. She's helped more than 40 agencies across the globe draft regulatory language, and more than 300 businesses lead the way in bringing the service to their communities.



Sam is a biologist by degree, a proud alum of Purdue University, and an open book. She lives in the cornfields of Indiana with her husband and two daughters. She works too late, the house is a mess, they’re outnumbered by pets – but they know how to have fun! She feels honored and humbled to continually learn how personal end-of-life choices are for families.
